Roger announces the election commitment of $28,000 towards the construction of an Orange-Bellied Parrot aviary.

The Flowerdale Lobster Haven offers a unique experience for visitors to learn about the largest freshwater invertebrate in the world, the Giant Freshwater Crayfish.

The Lobster Haven has detailed plans to expand the experience on offer at the Flowerdale site, and have expressed the desire to establish a similar presentation with the Orange-Bellied Parrot.

A re-elected majority Hodgman Liberal Government will provide support of $28,000 towards the construction of an Orange-Bellied Parrot display aviary.

If successful in meeting rigorous conditions set for attaining a licence to house the endangered birds, supplied Orange-Bellied Parrots would be retired non-breeding birds – as breeding pairs are needed for captive breeding programs.

The aviary project would help educate people about the birds’ fight for survival in the wild, and advocate the good work of the captive breeding program.
