Today Roger visited the Devonport Country Club to see the progress at the site of their $8.5 million redevelopment

I was delighted to today visit the home of the Devonport Golf Club, to see the progress being made at the site of the new  $8.5 million Devonport Country Club.

The Hodgman Liberal Government helped fund the exciting redevelopment, matching a Federal funding commitment of $3.5 million.

The facility will be the new home of both the Devonport and Spreyton Bowls and Croquet Clubs, and the Devonport Golf Club.

“This project shows the great benefit that can come from working together and sharing resources. I congratulate the three clubs involved for showing the way and setting an example that other organisations who are competing for resources can learn from” Liberal Member for Braddon Roger Jaensch said.

The plans include among many things, a new state of the art indoors bowls centre, two croquet lawns and upgrades to the current golf course.

The redevelopment has created around 100 full time jobs during the construction phase and 22 ongoing jobs once the building is complete.

The project couldn’t have come at a better time, with the Devonport Living City Plan also coming along in leaps and bounds.

“The timing of this project is perfect – coinciding with an exciting growth phase for this end of the Coast, with more investment, jobs, visitors and new people coming to live here who will be looking for the sorts of social and sporting opportunities this Country Club will provide” Mr Jaensch said.
